2008 Spring Recital


 
 

Splish Splash

The first section of our recital this year will be "Splish Splash". Tickets will go on sale and all seats are reserved. This will be a short show featuring our little ones. At the end of this show, these classes will be released and the auditorium will be cleared. We hope the students will purchase tickets for the second show, which will be the complete story of "The Little Mermaid”. We feel that it is very important for the younger dancers to see the older students perform.

The Little Mermaid

The second show features our advanced dancers in their special character roles. This will include all classes ICD and above. If your child is only in the last section (i.e. Hip Hop) and you do not wish to see the entire show, please see the breakdown times.

Recital Tickets

Tickets for all shows are on sale now

Ticket Price: $10.00

Any remaining seats will be sold at the door for $12.00

ALL SEATS ARE RESERVED and are non-refundable

For all those children who are only in the third section “ELEMENTS” (hip-hop, poms, Irish, etc) if you want to watch the first half, the ticket purchased for your section will get you in.

If your child is only in “LITTLE MERMAID” (Groups13 & 14) they will be released at intermission, so you may purchase a ticket for them to watch the third section. Group 15 will be released after their jazz number in the 3rd section, so you may want to purchase them a ticket for the remainder of the show. These three groups will be given a discount of $5 for your dancer’s ticket only. Please purchase it at the same time, so they can sit with you.

Parent Meetings

Hampden Saturday, May 17 thru Friday, May 23

The meetings will be during the beginning of your child's class. We will discuss all recital information. If your child is in separate ballet, tap, & jazz classes, come to the first part of the ballet class in which your child is learning their ballet dance for info on all costumes. It is very important that you attend or have another parent in the class take notes if you are not able to attend. All questions regarding the rehearsal, show times, dates, costumes, and class pictures will be covered.

Recital Pictures

Recital pictures are scheduled for each studio location your child’s classes are held at except the Main Character Pictures will be held at the HAMPDEN location.

Prices will vary from $9.00 to $40.00 depending on what package you choose. There are many options to select from (see payment envelopes that are being sent home).

Please be here, dressed in costume, 10 minutes early. Please have your child attend, even if you do not wish to purchase pictures. Make checks for the exact amount, payable to Tortorelli Photographic and bring them in the envelopes when pictures are taken. Rental items will be at the studio for your pictures. Time involved will be approximately 30 minutes. Specifics for each dance will be discussed at the parent meeting.

Recital DVD's

All recitals will be taped by Acentric Video and mailed. Orders will be taken at dress rehearsal & shows.

Pictures and Video Taping

All pictures and videos of your own should be taken at dress rehearsal only. It is distracting to the audience and dangerous to the dancers when the auditorium lights are down for the performance.

Recital Etiquette

IMPORTANT NOTE: During the recital, please remember that there is no coming and going between numbers. We will only release children at the end of the show. Groups 13 & 14 will be released at intermission and Group 15 will be released after their Jazz number.

Rental Costumes

All rental items will be given out and collected at dress rehearsal and the recital. Do not take any rental items home because other students need them for our other shows.

Costume Information

At dress rehearsal and the recital, please have students dressed for their first dance as much as possible. Their hair and make-up should be done! Please bring extra bobby pins and safety pins. On most styles of costumes, you need to criss-cross the straps in the back and safety pin them to the back of the costume. DO NOT SEW ON. Make sure all mitts are tight enough to stay on your child (pin or elastic band). If you receive a colored ribbon for the tap shoes, make a bow with the ribbon and attach to a tap-tie-button (can be purchase at studio $1). This will make changing faster and easier backstage.

We cannot emphasize enough - EVERYTHING (including costume pieces) should be labeled with your child's first and last name and show number. Use a brown paper bag with your child’s name, group & show number listed for all costume pieces, shoes and tights for performance.

Make-Up & Hair

Make-up should include a red lipstick, dark brown eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner (on little ones mascara and eye liner are optional). All pre-teen and performing groups should wear a base make-up. Please DO NOT send make-up backstage!!

Hair, if worn down, should be worn back away from the face or secured. We prefer buns or french braids. Special styles will be discussed in the parent meetings to accommodate hats or other things they will be wearing as part of their costume.
Please do not wear watches, earrings, or any other jewelry.

DO NOT BRING VALUABLES BACKSTAGE. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items like, (IPod, video games and phones.)
